Do you feel you have enough insurance cover?

UK Motorbike InsuranceFind out more about UK Motorbike Insurance

UK Motorbike Insurance falls into three main categories; third party, third party fire and theft, and comprehensive cover. Insurers usually recommend at least third party fire and theft insurance when you are searching for UK motorbike insurance, mainly because the cost of replacing a stolen or damaged bike would far outweigh the savings that you would make from downgrading to the basic cover. Third party insurance would provide cover for any passengers or any damage that you caused to other vehicles and drivers. However, third party, fire and theft also covers you and your motorbike in the case of an accident. Comprehensive UK motorbike insurance comes highly recommended by insurers because you would receive full compensation in the event of needing your motorbike repaired or replaced. More info

Ways of Saving on your UK Motorbike Insurance

  • Take an advanced riding qualification – depending on the UK motorbike insurance provider you choose, you may be eligible for a discount on your insurance premium if you have taken an advanced motorbike training scheme.  Check with some of the top insurers to see which qualifications would save you the most.
  • Consider a voluntary excess – if you agree to pay a certain amount towards the cost of repairs, your premium will decrease.  Do bear in mind that many UK motorbike insurance companies do put a compulsory excess on all claims as well, but if you are involved in an accident that is not your fault, you can sometimes reclaim your full excess from the person responsible or their insurers.
  • Be a careful driver – if you have not claimed on your UK motorbike insurance in several years, you may be eligible for a no-claims discount when you take out a new policy.  If you were involved in an accident that was not your fault, you may be able to retain your no-claims status, but check this with your insurer.
  • Be a woman! – As women motorbike drivers have lower ‘risk profiles’, because they are statistically less likely to be involved in an accident, you will usually be able to get a cheaper quote on your UK motorbike insurance as a woman.
