I don't have any ccj's but have been late with a couple of catalogue payments and now have a poor credit score and need a loan

I've heard about people who have applied for and been accepted for a loan only to be ripped off when the money hasn't come through and don't want the same to happen to me. Are there are companies I can trust?

How do I repay my student loan if I am both employed (full-time) and self-employed (part-time)? I have been in full employment for a few years and have also recently (March 2012) became self-employed (working as a consultant for one company).
