I have spoken to the mortgage company and they want at least 17K to get his name removed from the mortgage. Can a solicitor draw up something legal so that his name can be removed or at least his liability removed from the mortgage and deeds so that myself and my current partner can take control of the house? Currently it's being let but we've had a few issues with tenants (can't seem to find long term relaiable ones). My ex has always expressed no interest in the house whatsoever. I feel stuck in a no win situation, i can't afford to sell the property but can't afford to take full ownership of it either simply because the mortgage company want so much to change the details. Your advice is much appreciated.
