I recently took out a personal loan in my own name and the confirmation letter was sent to the address of my ex partners parents. I have never lived at the address (we used the address when we took out a joint mortgage with the same bank in 2007) my ex has now opened the letter so now knows personal information about my finances. He has now sent me threatening messages telling me to explain why i can 'afford' a new loan but not to sell the house we once shared. The personal loan was obviously something i didn't want him to find out about as it is none of his business but i don't know how to approach the bank and make them realise how serious this is and how much effect it could have on my circumstances. Please help...

Hello Kirsty

i dont know if you are still trying to sort this out, but your first port of call should be with the bank/loan provider and with their complaints department.

be certain to take notes of dates, times and contact names so that you can log the events as they unfold.

you can also lodge a complaint to the information commissioner, the following link will take you to the ICO website and their steps in how to proceed further....
