This varies widely from one insurer to another as companies will usually offer cover across the board but might only wish to actively take on risks in certain categories.
this means they will price competitively to attract what they consider low risk applicants to be and outprice on ones they dont want.
hence the new stories about new drivers being quote £53000 to insure a £750 banger!
