Are my children automatically covered if I purchase PMI? Are there child only plans available?
This all depends whether you are buying the policy idividually or via your employer. If it is individually, you will need to specify that you wish to have your children covered, so the answer to your question will be no. However, if it's via your employer, many employers will allow your whole family to be covered | 12.08.10 @ 04:51
Short answer, no, not automatically, but normally if you elect them to be covered there will be no medical questions asked - although they may have exclusions if your children have any problems with their medical history.
Axa PPP offer child only PMI cover - which I didn't know when I started writing this answer, so thank you for teaching me something today. Whether other providers also offer it I do not know, but having had a quick look at the PPP cover it looks quite reasonable, albeit not overly comprehensive. | 12.08.10 @ 09:35
Adding to this, some insurers will price children based on their specific age whereas others will price based on them being 'under x' so it is worth comparing the premiums form a fair few insurers. | 12.11.10 @ 17:46
