How often do the gas and utility suppliers change rates?

The last time I checked was over a year ago. How often should I be checking the comparison sites?

Based on https://www.ukpower.co.uk/home_energy/best-time-to-switch, it looks like gas suppliers and electricity suppliers change prices, tariffs, and deals very regularly. They recommended checking every 6-9 months. | 11.10.10 @ 23:50

British Gas has announced that it will be increasing its gas and electricity prices for 8 million households by 7% from 10 December 2010. The increase will add an extra £82 to the average annual standard dual fuel bill. | 11.12.10 @ 14:54
