Third party is the minimum legal requirement for van insurance, and it will cover your passengers and other road users, but will not cover any damage to your own vehicle. Third party, fire and theft covers injuries and other liabilities for your passengers and other road users and also fire damage to and theft of your own vehicle. Accidental damage to your vehicle is not included. Comprehensive van insurance covers all of the above as well as accidental damage to your vehicle. The excess you agree to pay on your van insurance makes a big difference to the cost of your premium, and any prior van insurance claims will also have an impact. Less

How to get the cheapest Van Insurance
- Be a safe driver. Most van insurance providers will offer no-claims discounts to those who have not been involved in an accident. If you have made a claim, but the accident was not your fault, you may be able to retain your no-claims bonus. The cheapest van insurance can be found by showing the van insurance company that you are safe to insurance and that you drive responsibly and with respect for other road users.
- Keep your van in good repair. Regular check-ups will lead to fewer accidents, and if you have a van that is fully up-to-date with its MOT checks you are more likely to have a successful claim.
- Pay your premium annually. If you can afford to pay the full amount annually, you will get cheaper van insurance. This is because insurance companies charge interest on monthly policies, so although it is convenient to avoid paying a large lump sum, you will be paying more overall for your van insurance.
Make sure you read the policy small print carefully, and take particular care to check for exclusions that may affect your level of cover.
