Hi jeannie,

The whole idea of a lifetime mortgage is that it will last for the rest of your life, and hence, there is no upper age limit. There is usually a lower age limit, typically 60, although some may be available from age 55.

Please feel free to get in touch if you want more information.

Best wishes

Some lenders have an upper age limit but others do not - so the short answer is there is no age limit.

I specialise solely in Equity Release so please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss this further.

This is true that some life time mortgage lenders offer this life time mortgage loan for a certain age limit, but it is not like that all lenders are also having age limitation for this particular loan.

In my opinion there must an age limit for mortgage loan, because repaying capacity is a major factor. An old person who is already retired and having no income sources, is unable to repay the loan.

Generally every loan company makes some rules and they set a certain age for maximum lending. But life time mortgage loan is a bit different from other mortgage loan. As far as the age limit concern for life time mortgage is a maximum age limit of 70-75.

It’s quite possible to go for a life time mortgage, but there’s nothing like upper age limit acquiring such mortgage. It’s been my outlook, since I’ve not been updated from a long time and might things would have changed but accordingly there’s no upper age limit in fact companies can fix lower age limit.

Life time mortgage is a bit different from a normal mortgage loan. I also heard that this kind of mortgage loan is having a particular age limit; which is around 70-75 years old.

I heard that the applicant needs to be aged at least 60 years to get a Lifetime Mortgage from the Society and if you think about joint applications, then you should both be at least 60 years old.

Life time mortgage loan is a bit different from a normal mortgage loan, and the rules, terms and conditions are also different for this particular loan. An individual should be aged at least sixty years old for becoming eligible for this Lifetime Mortgage loan.

A lifetime mortgage loan is a very long term loan secured against your home which is repaid when you die or go into long term care. There is no age limit for the applicant. There are many differences between a life time mortgage loan and any normal mortgage loan.
